common entrance test for nits and iits from 2013

Mr. Sibbal's effort to make school education important is quite commendable.Realizing the fact that india is the only country where higher educational institutions do not accept the marks given by its own board such as cbse, icse and other state boards for admission into various courses and students are made to appear in various entrance examination,he came out with the idea of common entrance test firstly for medical colleges and now for Nits and IITs.And now when IIT council has approved a fresh formula for admission based on rank achieved in advance test subject to the condition that students are in the top 20 percentile of the successful candidates of the board, the deal has been sealed. The objective is to reduce dependence on coaching, giving importance examination to class 12, reducing the multiplicity of examinations etc..but the question arises will this formula be successful in achieving its objective?here the very first belief that it would reduce 'kota style education'  seems to appear as a myth.on the contrary young minds will have to face more tough competition to get into IITs.firstly they will have to secure fairly good percentile to be in top 20 percentile of their boards, then they will have to qualify in jee main and then only top 150,000 would be allowed to take the jee advance test.this would result in mushrooming of more coaching instiutions luring students to join them for securing good marks in their board examinations.since there is wide gap between pattern and difficulty level of entrance examinations and board examinations , students will feel overburdend under the pressure of hitting the bulls eye. Moreover without reforming the formal education system at primary level the effort to bring parity and uniformity at higher level would go in vain.lets hope this formula gives no more suicides.
